This whip is a stunning example of late 19th century craftsmanship. Whomever made this whip was quite accomplished in his trade.
It has a beautiful, woven shaft and a sterling, basket weave collar. The notched, stag horn hook end has a glossy patina & is about 4” long. This is a very long whip - about 30” from hook to end loop, as this was used well before the forward seat was invented. This whip has the original end loop and cording, there are no nicks in the woven shaft, which is true & straight, and a glossy, dark oak brown color. It is in impeccable, museum condition. This is a perfect gift for a collector or anyone who appreciates rare, intact examples of fine sporting craftsmanship.
