Fabulous cubbing or ratcatcher whip by Swaine & Adeney. Cherry wood shaft is straight, true & well balanced for a man or lady. The wooden branch hook end is cross hatched like a staghorn end and sports the eponymous S&A silver button. The shaft is 18” long and the stitched, keyhole keeper adds another 7.5”. This informal whip/crop probably dates from early 20th c. Since we’ve replaced the keeper, it is ready for a new thong and lots of cracking, whether working hounds on foot or horseback. This is a rare and very sought after item. Why carry just any old cubbing stick when you can carry this work of beauty by the master craftsmen of Swaine & Adeney? Enough said.
