This is a fantastic find: a vintage 1990’s Swaine, Adeney & Brigg ladies’ sandwich case in near mint condition. The Swaine firm, founded in 1798, makes the Queen’s riding appointments. These cases are no longer available.
The case is gold stamped with the venerable old firm’s famous trademark, just under the flap. The case is suede lined, the leather is just about flawless & the stitching, impeccable (note the details on the back of the case.)
The sandwich box is substantial, is double hinged and has a pull ring. The box is made by Swaine (signed) and stamped “916 M”, probably Britannia Metal, which is a polished silver colored pewter alloy.. The flask is hand blown glass with a screw top made of the same material.
For comparison’s sake, please consider: perhaps the most revered retailer of fine hunting goods in the US sells their new cases for $1,475.
