This beautiful, leather plaited whip, has a large, band edge, sterling collar that is not only hallmarked for London, 1921, Edward Swaine Adeney, it is also hand engraved, “Spaulding & Co, Chicago”. This store, founded by Henry Abiram Spaulding (formerly of Tiffany’s) in 1888, was considered the top jewelry retailer of its time, outside of New York.
*This whip is in excellent condition, except for dents in the collar AND the slight bend in the shaft.* We photographed the whip next to a straight line so you can see the bend. The shaft does not appear to be broken, but it is not straight. But that is why we have priced it at $325.
The shaft is 20” long, and the keeper, which must be an old replacement, is in whip cracking shape. The binding is tight & well done. The real “stag horn” (antler) hook is in perfect condition and 6” long. The shaft is 3/4” wide.
