This is a fabulous Sabsom brand early 1900’s wooden shaft, dressage, side-saddle or park whip made by celebrated silversmith & whipmaker, Jonathan Howell. It has a silver metal collar and “mushroom” style cap & a replaced, stitched leather popper. The cap is marked “Sabsom” and the collar is stamped “JH” for Jonathan Howell. It is 37” long from metal cap to the end of the popper. The dark brown finished wooden shaft is a little over 33” long from the cap to the beginning of the popper. The cap has a few small dings, commensurate with age & use. Overall, it is still exceptionally well balanced and in excellent condition.
