This is a very special & hard to find sterling silver fox mask collar early hunt whip. The shaft is 30” long from staghorn end to the loop (34” w loop), and made of maple or fruitwood, which was standard for the time. It is a beautiful collector’s piece or can be carried as a side-saddle whip. It can be easily shortened to a modern length by our saddler or yours. It is lightweight enough for a lady & substantial enough for a man. It has no warping and is “keeled” so it always rolls in the perfect position in your hand. The shaft has dings to the finish commensurate with age & use, but this only adds patina to this stunning piece. The sterling collar is devoid of makers’ marks, so the fox artist & whipmaker are unknown. (Sadly, it appears to be missing a tiny end button on the staghorn that would have given us that information.)
