This 1930’s era Basset hound door stop is made of painted, solid cast iron. He measures 7” tall x 7” wide & is quite capable of holding back even the very heaviest of doors.

Door stops were quite popular in the early to mid 19th c, before the days that air conditioning became de rigeur. Figural doorstops were especially popular, and were an early method of decorating self expression.

This loyal Basset might also work as a bookend for a long row of heavy books or a substantial paperweight. If you employ him (her?) in this manner, we suggest you add some round, felt guards to his paws so he won’t scratch your furniture.

Please note that this heavy hound may be more costly to ship than your average item. After all, he is quite substantial.
