This is a beautiful, antique double sided locket that can contain 2 small photos. Like many gold lockets of this era (1890-1940), the frame of this locket is made of a stronger metal than gold, for its durability. Thus it is probably 9 kt gold clad. The hinge & catch are in excellent shape. The interior has both picture fillets intact and one of the sides still has the original glass, as well. The horse shoe is ornately decorated in the Art Nouveau/Victorian style and has the Lucky 7 horse shoe nail pattern. It was designed to hang w the bars of the shoe facing down so that the wearer would be in a constant stream of good luck. The locket measures 1”x3/4”x1/4”.
