This lovely Antique gilt/silver brooch is in remarkable condition for its age, which is estimated to be between 1890-1925. It sports Victorian faux diamond horse shoe "nails" in the Lucky 7 pattern that was popular at the time. It is a substantial feeling brooch that measures 1" x 1.25". Like most horse shoe brooches made before 1940, it was designed to be worn w the arms of the shoe facing down so that the person wearing the brooch would be showered w "luck". However, you can choose to wear in either direction, as it secures tightly w a T bar pin and modified, wire type, C style clasp. This is a beautiful item which looks much more expensive than its price tag. It would really stand out on a dressage stock.
